Was about to immediately abandon the run but decided to just wing it and see how far I could get- ended up dying to the act 3 boss (A10 or 11) and was mighty impressed how smooth the whole thing was. I started boss relic swapping for IC since extra energy is so important and the first time I did it I got broken crown.

That's basically a free relic and a shot at drafting a decent card! I'm a fan of the "first 3 enemy groups all have 1hp" option whenever routing allows me to potentially clobber an early elite with it. A challenge is welcome, but rolling the dice - which is all that the latter stages of Slay is - gets very boring very fast.Winner of the TSR Memorial Award for Excellence In Grogging The developers ruined an otherwise excellent deck-building experience with ridiculously imbalanced difficulty. It is *possible*, but will require you to get every requisite card, in a particular order, while landing only on enemies that it is possible to defeat. Your capacity to slay the heart has virtually nothing to do with skill, and is entirely based on luck. UPDATE: Dropped the score from a 6 to a 4 due to the absurd end-game difficulty. Why bother to keep playing if it all comes down to dumb luck? An enormous disappointment. This turns what was an absolutely thrilling and addictive experience into a lame, frustrating grind. Enemies are idiotically overpowered, and minor mistakes can be catastrophic. In StS, if you don't luck out and get the exact right combination of cards, at exactly the right point in the game, you're totally effed.

In a genre classic such as Hades, the player is rewarded for experimenting with different builds based on drops. The problem is that the endgame - once you have cleared the base quest with all three characters - is preposterously difficult, even for a Roguelike. Still would recommend the purchase or play it with ps plus or xbox gamepass. It's not a bad game at all, it's just for me it does get boring after awhile and really after a few hours you do feel like this is all the game really has to offer. You can easily tell if your run is going to fail right away in the first few minutes Pros - Good ideas and no bugs -the random events are cool - fun game to play for a few minutes Overall, I think it depends somewhat if you like these type of card games/roguelikes. Enemy variety isn't that good, which is odd considering the theme of the game. Somewhat too dependent on RNG elements, so if you don't get the right cards/relics, you will lose as this game isn't really skill based but more luck in my opinion. Cons -Animations are really bland, for a card game with combat there could of been way more done.
